About Norman Lau

Norman Lau has been with YKM since 1986, where he started at the age of 12 under Sifu Michael Lau. By the age of 16, he was dancing in many international tournaments, braving benches, tables, and even jongs. These tournaments include many Tat Wong tournaments, the 1990 Malaysian World Lion Dance Tournament, the ‘97 Hong Kong International Lion Dance Tournament, and the Hawaii Lion Kings Tournament in 2005. His dancing has taken him from Boston to Las Vegas, allowing him to witness the rise and proliferation of the contemporary styles of the dance, while still keeping prolific with tradition. LTP is glad to be able to have met such an extraordinary practitioner of the art and are eager to learn from his vast experiences...

Throughout my career I have been fortunate to travel the world through lion dancing. Notable places that have been to are Hong Kong, Malaysia, many parts of China, all over California, Reno, Las Vegas, Minnesota, Boston, Portland, & Phoenix. I have performed lion dancing for well over 1000 different venues & occasions. I believe I came into lion dance and stayed long enough to not only learn and understand the full teachings and techniques of traditional & modern day lion dancing, but also actively practice & perform both of them daily.
